Adventures in babysitting
We got lucky enough tonight to babysit two of the cutest little nieces around. Cedar and Basil are spending the evening with us. We had a picnic at a park and Cedar showed us just how fast she could run--she's the blur in the middle. ;-) We hope Leah and Scott are having just as much fun moving stuff into their new house.... hehehe....

The Little Things (and little people)
Sometimes it's the little things that help you feel truly contented, like kids being obedient: sweeping and doing homework. Then you notice the cute, littlest one just being cute and little. Ahh, sweetness!

Painting the streets
Whoever said that Red Ribbon Week wasn't an effective way to reach kids to stay away from drugs, hasn't been to our elementary school's activities. What kid is ever going to forget the chance they had to paint the road? Gavin is thrilled! Just remember to "Say NO to Drugs" (Gavin is in the "N"). I love seeing him with his friends!

We love the park!
One of our favorite places to go as a family, especially for dinner. Even, apparently, in October when it's only 50ºF outside.

Little helpers....
Josiah, being a five-year-old boy, had dropped crackers and bread pieces on the floor during dinner. I asked him to pick them up. Having the strong desire to use his newly acquired skill of sweeping (learned just yesterday), he went and got the broom. He did a fantastic job sweeping up his cracker mess, leaving only a few small crumbs, and went to return the broom to the pantry.
Little did I realize that, in trying to train my son in homemaking skills and to clean up after himself, that I was setting myself up for a more epic mess than I could have anticipated. As he put the broom away he managed to knock down the tub of flour sitting on the shelf behind the broom. Luckily it was a smaller container, only about 3 cups worth. And looking on the bright side, I'll eventually laugh at his little footprints in the dust in the picture and I get to reinforce his training--this time with Clorox wipes and dusty cracks (after I swept). I love the "I'm sorry" look on his face, too. I'll have to remember and pull this picture out next time he stubbornly refuses to apologize.... Oh, the joys of parenting!

Ryan's Place Park
Today we had to run some errands back in Logan so I offered to let the kids play at a park. They picked the "rocket park" because it's a favorite, maybe THE favorite. It's a park that was built not long after we moved to Logan, mostly from donations of time and money, named as a memorial to the boy whose family organized the efforts to build it. It was designed by architects who got their ideas from local school children. Truly fulfilling a kids imagination. Jason is coming soon with Little Caesar's pizza on his dinner break. A tradition I didn't think we would continue with moving to Brigham, but so happy to enjoy!
